Behind the Scenes
Behind the Scenes is a film in the shape of a mix.
It shows 12 people putting on makeup in public spaces throughout Berlin, with a soundtrack produced by Juniper Foam that works together with the transformations in their faces and in their surrounding environments.
Referencing Tiktok glamor tutorials, the ambient visuals of internet radio, as well as Andy Warhol’s screen tests, the film juxtaposes deeply personal questions of belonging and being seen with vibrant scenarios and soundscapes.
The music is a hybrid between a long-form remix and an original soundtrack, featuring artists such as Annea Lockwood, Phill Niblock, Charlemagne Palestine, Flying Lizards, Andrew Pekler, Luc Ferrari and Jan Jelinek.
